A major programme of restoration and renewal (R&R Programme) work needs to be carried out to preserve the legacy of the Palace of Westminster and ensure it can continue to serve as home to the UK Parliament during and beyond the 21st century. This is your chance to be part of what promises to be an exciting time in the biggest restoration and renewal programme in the history of the UK. You’ll join the Heritage Collections teams within Restoration and Renewal. The post holder must be able to operate at a functional level, maintaining appropriate and effective plans to support the collections project lifecycle. They must be a conservator with expert knowledge in all aspects heritage collections. In addition to this, they will play a key role in supporting the Heritage and Collections teams in preparing for the work of the Programme. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with conservation workstreams across the Parliamentary Estate and in-House teams to undertake a programme-level conservation risk assessment, that will provide the framework for establishing conservation stabilisation needs in preparation for moving the heritage works.
Key responsibilities •Acting as an advocate – conservation subject matter expert - for conservation matters within the Restoration and Renewal Programme. •Working in partnership with the Collections team to monitor project and programme risks for all Heritage work, ensuring compliance with conservation procedures and best practice. •Working with Parliament’s Collections Care Managers, and the Restoration and Renewal Programme teams, to undertake conservation risk assessments – identifying issues and risks, and methods of mitigating identified issues and risks, to support the Programme objectives.
