Background

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the House of Lords Administration, supporting preparation and planning for the Restoration and Renewal of the Palace of Westminster (R&R), expected to begin in the mid-2020s.   The post-holder will work closely with senior staff and governance bodies in the House of Lords Administration, as well as with colleagues in the Shadow Sponsor Body (the client body on behalf of Parliament) and the R&R programme delivery team, whose role it is to deliver the works required. This will include acting as an interlocutor between the programme team and House of Lords Administration

The Role

Under the direction of the Lords R&R Director, to lead and coordinate the Administration’s response to the Restoration and Renewal of the Palace of Westminster. 

The Person

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:

  • Proven experience working with design teams, translating technical terms and output into easily accessible material for those with a non-specialist background, and identifying potential implications, issues and opportunities for the organisation coming out of the design process  

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop highly effective working relationships and to persuade and influence senior stakeholders   

  • Excellent drafting and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce Board papers requiring little or no amendment, and the ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences
