  • Delivering 650 community workshops a year throughout the UK
  • Working in partnership with a range of organisations in order to reach people and communities who are politically disengaged
  • Delivering specially designed sessions to Adults with Learning Disabilities resource, making it easier for this community to engage with the work of the UK Parliament

What will you be doing?

In this exciting position, you will deliver inspiring and informative sessions to a range of community and school audiences throughout Wales as part of a national award-winning team. The community work will focus particularly on those who have had little or no engagement with the work of parliament before.  You will be working with the people of Wales to inform them of, and engage them in, the work of the UK Parliament

You will visit primary and secondary schools in Wales to speak at assemblies and to deliver workshops on request. Our sessions are designed to meet the curriculum needs of teachers in Wales.

You will build relationships with key partners and stakeholders right across society in Wales to deliver community outreach workshops.

There may also be opportunities to work in other parts of the UK delivering to schools and community groups alike.

The majority of your time will be spent away from Westminster, but you will need to keep abreast of parliamentary business. You will take responsibility for organising and managing your time away from Westminster, with support from your team.

The officer will deliver sessions in both English and Welsh on demand with the assistance of a translator. They will be responsible for overseeing the Welsh language offer from Parliament, both in delivery of workshops to schools, colleges and adult groups and in the commissioning of Welsh language materials.

Highly developed written communication skills to promote and market outreach services to new and existing audiences
  • A good understanding of the requirements of the National Curriculum for Wales and recent experience of working with schools or of working with young people in the primary or secondary age range.

  • Effective organisation and time-management skills to deliver against agreed targets, effective prioritisation and the ability to meet tight deadlines, and to work independently and as part of a team whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience of initiating projects and/or new services and a demonstrable ability to revise practice based on experience of delivery.
