IRIS Operations Manager

The Information Rights and Information Security (IRIS) Service leads for the House on security of information, both paper and electronic, and manages the House’s obligations under the information laws (The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR/DPA 2018), Freedom of Information 2000 (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulations 2005 (EIRs). Privacy, confidentiality, integrity and accessibility are the fundamental principles of the work of the IRIS service.
As a new position in the IRIS team, the IRIS Operations Manager will support the Head of IRIS in the operational management of the IRIS team, providing business support and effective administration and strong leadership of the team to enable the delivery of the House’s responsibility under the information laws and Information Security. The post-holder will manage the business support of the team, including managing resources, budgets and financial planning. The Operations Manager will drive continuous improvement for the team, including coordinating and proactively managing arising action plans, identifying areas for work, and preparing progress reports.
The Person
- Highly developed team management and leadership skills, ideally with experience of setting realistic objectives, providing clear direction and setting priorities, monitoring performance, giving feedback and supporting development while promoting a culture of diversity and inclusion; or a demonstrable ability to develop these skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to identify priorities, deal with conflicting demands and make timely decisions and actions in order to deliver work to a high standard.
- Excellent inter-personal and well-developed communication skills, with the ability to build internal relationships and networks built on credibility and respect with significant experience of providing advice to managers at all levels.
