Programme Support Officer required to support the extensive refurbishment of the Parliamentary Northern Estate to support the Restoration and Renewal of the iconic Palace of Westminster. The Programme Support Officer will support the Programme Management Office in one of the most exciting projects of our time.

The Northern Estate Programme (NEP) has been established to manage the comprehensive refurbishment of a number of significant historic buildings on the Parliamentary Estate. The Northern Estate consists of listed buildings north of Bridge Street and the spaces between them which are currently occupied by over 1,000 people, including MPs, their staff and administration staff. Some buildings have not been refurbished for many years and are in varying states of repair. The Programme is concerned specifically with: Richmond House, Norman Shaw North (Grade I); 1 Derby Gate (Grade II*); Norman Shaw South and 1 Parliament Street (both Grade II) and the spaces between the above buildings.

A dynamic and growing team currently manages the NEP, led by a Programme Director and overseen by a Programme Board.   

The Role

This is a key role in the programme management office team and will interact with colleagues in many parts of Strategic Estates who are engaged in the different programme work-streams. Working within a team that provides support the Head of PMO and the Programme Director as well as the wider Programme Team by leading core programme management activities, such as scheduling, reporting and risk processes the role will also take responsibility for leading/managing one or more standalone projects or workstreams.

The Person

This project is fast moving and the Programme Management Office is a great team to work with who will offer you the support you need to excel in the role. You will be self-motivated and keen to learn, with experience supporting programmes or projects including involvement in programme or project planning, progress reporting and risk management. This is an exciting project that is developing on a daily basis and you will be encouraged to develop as the project does. This is an opportunity for you to grow and enhance your skills and experience in a challenging role but you will be given the support you need to achieve your potential. You will be able to prioritise effectively and have the ability to cope with ambiguity when the way forward is not necessarily clear from the outset, considering alternative approaches and proposing the appropriate course of action. As well as being able to work independently and take responsibility for day-to-day matters you will also be a committed team player, contributing to team decisions and driving effective team working.

You will also hold or be working towards a recognised Project or Programme Management Qualification, have experience using MS Project and have worked in a similar complex programme environment in a previous role.
