Are you experienced in managing complex construction projects and keen to play an important role in a high- profile programme of works within a unique historic setting? Then make the move to the House of Commons Strategic Estates dynamic and growing Northern Estates Programme (NEP) team.

The Houses of Parliament are undertaking a complete refurbishment of its estate, including decanting both the House of Commons and the House of Lords from the Palace of Westminster.  The Northern Estate Programme will create a decant campus for the House of Commons, including debating chamber, committee rooms, and private office space for ministers and members. The project represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect, preserve and enhance the unique national asset, the Parliamentary Estate.

A great opportunity to make a quick impact, you’ll help deliver complex projects from the design stage through to hand over. You’ll also act as the intelligent client and customer representative, as you lead and deliver projects and programmes in conjunction with colleagues in the wider Strategic Estates team. Regularly reporting on the progress of projects to Programme Boards, clients and other stakeholders will be key in this role, as will reviewing and managing costs, contributing to business cases and liaising with contractors and consultants. And, when it comes to fostering a ‘one team’ approach to achieve project excellence, outstanding customer service and compliance with regulatory and House standards, again, we'll count on you.

As well as a construction qualification, you’ll have post qualification experience performing the intelligent client role and managing consultants and contractors. You’ll also know how to organise project delivery to time, budget and agreed quality. Using structured project management techniques to plan and control construction programmes will come naturally to you too. What’s more, you'll be effective at developing briefs, familiar with the project procurement process and standard contract forms and confident managing complex engineering biased designs to completion. Whether you’re motivating and leading teams of technical professionals or liaising with colleagues, key customers and stakeholders, your all-round communication skills will ensure that you quickly gain the respect of everyone you deal with.

In addition to an attractive salary, the benefits package includes the possibility of flexible working, while annual leave entitlement starts at 30 days per year and increases with length of service. There are also subsidised canteens and an on-site gym, and a season ticket loan scheme is available.
