The Role
The Independent Director for Cultural Transformation is being appointed externally to join the Commons Executive Board and to develop and lead the action plan responding to the findings of the Bullying and Harassment of House of Commons Staff report by Dame Laura Cox. The new Director will be responsible for defining and developing the action plan, engaging people at all levels working for the House of Commons and Parliamentary Digital Service.
A ‘Lead Adviser’ is being recruited in advance of the Independent Director, together with a Project Support Officer, to ensure that they are able to start working on the action plan as soon as they arrive and to help them work effectively within the parliamentary structures and context. The role is, however, expected to evolve and change depending on the Independent Director’s plans and approach. The post holder therefore needs to be very knowledgeable about the parliamentary context and the issues identified in the Cox report, as well as organised and flexible.

- Demonstrable experience of influencing diverse stakeholders, developing and using a range of persuasive strategies

- Communicates clearly, confidently and persuasively both orally and in writing
- Proven ability to engages and inspire others about the future, demonstrating empathy and inclusive behaviours
