The Role

As Procedural Indexing Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day management of the senior indexing team. You will lead on the management and development of our procedural indexing standards, ensuring that indexing practice keeps pace with procedural changes and continues to meet the needs of users. You will work closely with the Thesaurus Editor and the Data Quality Manager to ensure that our approach to vocabulary management and subject indexing meets the needs of our users.

The Information and Data Strategy sets out principles for the management and use of information and data, including that Parliament’s information and data are created with purpose and matched to the requirements of the Houses and our users; are authoritative, comprehensive, structured and maintained to a high quality; are easy to find, use, link to and share to maximise the value to ourselves and others.

The postholder will have a role to play as an advocate for the recommendations made in the Strategy as they relate to parliamentary data and data models.

The Person

Below are just a few competencies which the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate; 

  • Ability to create  an environment where people are motivated, committed to achieving their work objectives, and feel supported; 
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of the principles and practice of information and data management to meet the information needs of Members, their staff, staff of both Houses and public users of parliamentary information;
  • Stakeholder and user engagement skills- identify and engage with users or stakeholders to understand information needs and manage user expectations.
