The Vote Office publishes and distributes parliamentary papers, and provides Members and House Officials with the essential documents required to fulfil their parliamentary duties, including publications formally laid before parliament. The Publications Enquiries team is responsible for obtaining and distributing parliamentary and official documents to Members, their staff and House staff.

The Publication Enquiries Officer works in distribution points across the estate dealing with face to face, email and phone requests for information and publications from Members and their staff, and from House of Commons staff. They are responsible for ensuring the collection of publications is up to date and appropriately stocked. They use online information resources to identify and obtain publications and use high volume printers to produce hard copies on request. They maintain effective relationships with government departments to ensure publications are available to Members.

The Person

  • Experience of providing excellent customer service in pressured situations and dealing with a diverse range of customers with varying needs, particularly in relation to responding to enquiries and requests for information
  • An awareness of parliamentary procedure and business documents, including their purpose and relevance for the Chamber and a good appreciation of the role and work of Members of Parliament
  • Good experience of working with official publications, including parliamentary and procedural documents, including evidence of good research skills
