Interviews are expected to be held on 6th December 2018.

Thousands of people with a huge range of skills, experience and backgrounds work behind the scenes supporting a thriving Parliamentary democracy in many different ways. The Visitor and Retail Services team is part of the wider Participation Team which opens up Parliament, engages people in the work that happens here, and signposts opportunities to get involved. Whilst we are directly employed by the Houses of Commons, the team is bicameral, so we work for both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. We are politically impartial and take great pride in the vision and values which guide our work.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, dynamic Visitor Engagement Assistants to join the Visitor Engagement Team at the Houses of Parliament. You will welcome visitors, deliver engaging tours, and open up the Palace of Westminster to members of the public.

  • You need to bring great communication and presentation skills, a genuine interest in democracy, a passion for working with people and delivering the best possible customer service.
  • You will need to love working with people, to thrive in a fast paced environment, to be open to learning new things, to enjoy problem solving and to be committed to continual improvement.

We will provide full training through our new academy programme.

The Person

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver engaging presentations to large audiences and adapt style and content to meet audience needs.
  • Customer service: a good understanding of what excellent customer service is, and how to deliver it, with the ability to meet the needs of different audience groups and uphold the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • A collaborative approach with the willingness to help others and the ability to work well as part of a team in a pressured environment.

Annual leave starting at 30 days pro rata

Civil Service Pension scheme

Interest-free season ticket loan

Discounted membership of the in-house gym
