The Role

This is a temporary development opportunity to work as a Deputy Operations Manager, reporting to one of a team of 6 Operations Managers that provide security management and leadership for the Parliamentary estate working closely with the Police to manage the day to day operations of the PSD workforce of c.350 staff, a 24/7, 365 operation.

This role’s primary function is to support the Operations Managers in the day-to-day management of the security search and screening work and sharing line management responsibilities for Security Officer Managers (a total team of 10) and, indirectly, 100+ Security Officers.

It is an exciting time in the department, and this role will drive through projects, developments and standards, as well as supporting the Operations Manager in the day to day running of a Search & Screening team.

 

The Person

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:

  • Ability to lead, organise and motivate a team of staff (search and screening & non-search and screening) working across shift patterns on a 24/7, 365 basis in a pressurised environment managing multiple, concurrent tasks.

  • Experience of managing complex HR issues, showing resilience, tenacity and ability to find solutions and see them through to a successful conclusion.

  • Good understanding of organisational objectives and ability to drive and implement any necessary action to ensure security goals are achieved
