Are you a well-organised administrator with a passion for delivering great customer service and a real desire to play a key office support role in unique and historic surroundings? Then make the move to the House of Commons Strategic Estates dynamic and growing Northern Estates Programme (NEP) team.

You’ll be joining a Strategic Estates team that manages property and engineering infrastructures across a Parliamentary estate that consists of buildings that range from the historic Palace of Westminster to the modern Portcullis House. Within it, the NEP has been established to manage the refurbishment of a number of significant buildings, some of which haven’t been refurbished for many years and are in varying states of repair. Accordingly, the programme promises to be fast-moving and very high profile – and you could soon be part of it.

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for providing vital administrative support to the NEP team. That means ensuring the smooth and efficient running of a busy project management office by administering the security clearance process for internal staff and third party consultants. It also means managing diaries, dealing with the mail, responding to enquiries, setting up meetings and taking accurate and timely notes. But that’s not all. As well as supporting the NEP effort, we’ll rely on you to help out with the wider work and objectives of the Strategic Estates department too. Put simply, it's a great opportunity for someone seeking experience in a busy programme/project environment to play a proactive role in a growing team with an intensive workload and tight timescales to meet.

To succeed, you’ll need excellent verbal and written communication skills and the administrative know how to support numerous team members and work inclusively and flexibly to deliver a high quality service. We’ll also be looking for the ability to take responsibility for completing tasks by organising and prioritising your own work load and remaining calm under pressure. Excellent attention to detail is vital too, as is proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and, ideally, SharePoint). And, when it comes to working with a diverse range of stakeholders, you have a real flair for adapting your personal and working styles to accommodate the needs of others.

In addition to an attractive salary, the benefits package include the possibility of flexible working, while annual leave entitlement starts at 28 days per year and increases with length of service. There are also subsidised canteens and a gym on-site and a season ticket loan scheme is available.
