The Role

The Deputy Head of Diversity and Inclusion will deputise for the Head of Diversity and Inclusion and support the Diversity and Inclusion Team to implement the Diversity & Inclusion Strategy and objectives, supporting the House of Commons Corporate Plan. The postholder will support the Head of Diversity and Inclusion in setting priorities for improving services, policies and practices in line with the principles of equality and diversity and moving towards a culture of inclusion.


The role’s remit includes additional areas of responsibilities, leading on major Business as Usual activities for the D&I team, including leading the; Accessibility group for R&R and NEP, the BAME engagement programme, the further development of the internal D&I Champion role, the outreach programme including the work to support other UK Parliaments to develop paid Members internship programmes, which target under-represented and hard to reach groups. All of the above will need Board-level support and buy-in.

 

The Person

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:

  • Sound understanding of the Equality Act 2010 and experience of applying it to casework and policy reviews. Experience in equality analyses and knowledge of the general equality duty.

 

  • Proven experience of leading/contributing to organisational culture change, embedding the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion, and role modelling them at all times.

 

  • Proven relationship management and stakeholder engagement: ability to influence and persuade at all levels, using a consultative, nuanced approach.
