The Communications and Audiences team sits within the Participation team which draws together many of Parliament’s public facing services, including Education and Engagement and Visitor Services. Services provided by the Communications and Audiences team include facilitating digital engagement between MPs and the public, marketing support to other Participation teams, and a busy telephone and e-mail public enquiries service.
House of Commons Public Enquiry Officers are responsible for answering telephone and written enquiries from the public, on the work, history and membership of the House of Commons; day to day management of our enquiries mailbox, and checking a range of internally and externally produced content on the work of the House of Commons.
The Person
- Experience of providing excellent customer service and the ability to handle challenging situations confidently and professionally
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including effective proof reading skills and the ability to adapt communication styles to different public audiences and across various channels
- An interest in House of Commons procedure and practice with the ability to develop a good understanding in this area
