The Role
The Parliamentary Security Department is now in its fourth year, with a workforce of over 400. As we continue to grow and evolve, it is critical that we manage our information effectively, efficiently and securely, bearing in mind the specific risks related to security information. The Information Manager will have three key areas of responsibility: records management, information security, and ensuring compliance with data protection and FOI requirements.
Existing duties in the Business Support and Finance team have been reassigned, following a small team restructure, and in line with the expanding and evolving needs of PSD. The Information Manager will ensure all information about the Parliamentary Security Department is held securely, kept up to date, and made accessible to those who need to see it.
The Person
The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:
- Experience of setting up or improving and running systems to effectively manage, safeguard and secure information assets, documents and records, adapting file structures appropriately in line with corporate policy.
- Knowledge and understanding of Freedom of Information (FOI) and data protection principles and practice, including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Excellent communication skills, including active listening and consultation of others, upholding the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion. Explains complex and technical verbal and written information in a way that is understandable and meaningful to the user.
