Maintaining a thriving parliamentary democracy requires the contribution of a dedicated, politically impartial and diverse workforce who takes pride in supporting the democratic process (circa 2,500 in the House of Commons alone).

The Restoration and Renewal Programme was established to tackle the significant work that needs to be done to preserve the Palace of Westminster and ensure it can continue to serve as home for the UK Parliament in the 21st century. Work has begun to establish a new, two-tier governance model for the programme, like that which has been proven to work well on major projects such as the London 2012 Olympics and Crossrail.

The Assistant BIM Manager will work within the Design Delivery Team to create and manage information on various refurbishment projects and supporting survey works relating to the programme. They will be involved in the deployment of the planning, strategy and implementation of Building Information Models within the R&R Programme.

The successful applicant will also work closely with the R&R Digital Team and be an interface point between design and data collection. Lots of the early data collection will be around survey works, and the post holder must have experience of survey techniques.

The post holder will support the R&R Programme Delivery team, and the House of Commons, in its use of BIM and data driven systems, developing intelligent 3D models to give architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) professionals among others the insight and tools to efficiently plan, design, construct and manage buildings and infrastructure within the Parliamentary Estate.

The post holder will be accountable for:

  • Setting up and managing BIM Execution Plans for the Restoration and Renewal Programme to enhance the efficiency of project delivery and refurbishment works.
  • Ensuring that the building information requirements on the client-side are understood, up-to-date, reliable and maintained in line with business changes within the Parliamentary Estate.
  • Coordinating and analysing building information as it is delivered to and received from internal and external parties. Managing any security risks related to BIM information, both internally and within the supply chain.

In addition to an attractive salary, the benefits package include the possibility of flexible working, while annual leave entitlement starts at 30 days per year. There are also subsidised canteens, a gym on-site and a season ticket loan scheme is available.
