The Opportunity

The Parliamentary Digital Service (PDS) are seeking an Interim Head of Productivity & Collaboration, to lead on operational delivery, lifecycle management and continuous improvement across Parliament’s Productivity & Collaboration services.  The critical shared services delivered by the Platform team are central to the delivery of all digital services in Parliament.  This role will be responsible for ensuring the provision of secure, accessible, and sustainable Productivity & Collaboration platforms to enable both Houses to realise maximum benefits from digital services.   

As Interim Head of Productivity & Collaboration, you will have end-to-end accountability for day-to-day operational delivery and maintaining a platform roadmap, with a strong focus on excellent service and positive user experience, whilst ensuring that sustainable lifecycle management plans are in place. You will manage key supplier contracts to provide secure and reliable Productivity & Collaboration services to enable both Houses of Parliament to meet their strategic and business objectives.

  • The Interim Head of Productivity & Collaboration will work as part of the leadership team within the directorate and lead on strategic Productivity & Collaboration plans and decision making.
  • They will use their leadership skills to role model inclusive and collaborative behaviours and motivate staff towards a healthy, high performing and actively engaged culture.
  • They will be responsible for ensuring robust operational plans and budgets are in place for the platforms they operate, including resource plans, capacity planning and BCDR (Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery), overseeing and participating in any on call arrangements.   
  • The Interim Head of Productivity & Collaboration will lead and develop a technical team of Productivity & Collaboration specialists to innovate across teams.
  • The role will entail engaging with senior stakeholders in PDS and externally.

What You Need

  • You can evidence significant experience in a technical leadership role, successfully delivering secure and performant Productivity & Collaboration services to agreed metrics. You are a technical subject matter expert with hands-on operational experience in a Productivity & Collaboration function and can demonstrate this alongside the following key technical knowledge: Microsoft Office 365 / Teams / Messaging Products / Co-Pilot 365 / Office 365 Capabilities such as SharePoint & One Drive.
  • You set the technical direction, developing strategy, and supporting roadmaps which strive for continuous improvement of Productivity & Collaboration services. You are a highly effective leader with experience of building and maintaining a high performing and actively engaged team, whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity, and inclusion. You have recent experience of leading a team and building a supportive and collaborative team culture, empowering others to take ownership, deliver and develop. 
  • You have an expert level of experience in successfully managing Productivity & Collaboration platform lifecycle and the ability to resiliently respond to cyber security threats. You implement highly effective operational & BCDR plans, ensuring a robust and resilient approach for Productivity & Collaboration, utilising external suppliers where appropriate.
  • You have first-hand experience of owning relationships with third-party solutions or managed service providers to deliver user friendly and cyber secure solutions which are cost effective and sustainable. You are an effective contract manager and proactively manage resources and budgets. 
  • You have strong stakeholder management skills and evidence of your ability to translate business requirements and user/stakeholder needs into effective work plans and practical working solutions. You proactively forge collaborative working relationships with other digital leaders to deliver strategic outcomes. You can influence people at all levels within the organisation including a challenging customer base. 

About The Team

The Productivity and Collaboration team are the technology product owners for the collaboration tools used across Parliament, primarily SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Teams, Planner, Stream, Viva Engage and the Power Platform.
