Background

The Information Compliance Team, comprised of 3 people, is based in the Clerk of the Parliaments’ Office and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the House of Lords Administration’s compliance with information access legislation, data protection legislation, and information security requirements. This includes responding to requests for information made under this legislation, promoting the proactive publication of information as part of the House’s Publication Scheme and providing advice and support to senior managers, project boards and offices on Data Protection and information security issues. The team is also responsible for supporting the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) with the delivery of effective policies, procedures and guidance to mitigate information security risk, most of which is provided on a bicameral basis.

Competencies:

 Essential

  • Managing Information Compliance: Substantial hands-on experience of managing information compliance requests and enquiries from the public and media.
  • Information Legislation: Expert knowledge of current information legislation, including the FOIA, UKGDPR, DPA and EIR
  • Polices & procedure implementation: Proven experience of implementing new policies and procedures in a complex organisation
  • Working under pressure: Tact and discretion, with the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Attention to detail: Ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy
  • Building working Relationship: Building and maintaining effective working relationships
