The Opportunity

We do our vital work at the heart of the British democracy, and use all our digital skills as we help the UK Parliament to run smoothly and efficiently. When you join the Power Platform team in this important role, you’ll be key to the team’s success as you use the latest software and apps to build a range of digitised solutions. Working with various business stakeholders you will use your problem solving and analysis skills as you understand our clients’ requirements to develop user-centred applications, delivering both business value and objectives.

A motivating and inspirational communicator with the confidence to promote a positive culture of delivery within the team, you’ll be committed to maintaining highly confidential data security concerns. But your work won’t stop there. Among your other tasks we’ll also expect you to:

  • apply findings from the analysis of requirements and business processes to the design of solutions
  • investigate and resolve live issues, document the solutions and provide guidance, explanation and assurance to the relevant stakeholders
  • work with prototypes, design iteration, show & tell and feedback to facilitate the identification and development of design patterns
  • ensure all work is carried out and recorded in accordance with required standards,
    best practices and procedures, and ensure that the necessary documentation is current and available
  • contribute to collective problem solving with a proactive approach
  • bring real value to the team as you share your knowledge of technology and the latest ideas from the industry

What You Need

If you have a systematic and analytical approach to problem-solving and the capturing of ideas, and are committed to ensuring technical documentation is produced, maintained and shared in accordance with set standards, then we want to hear from you. You should also have:

  • proven expertise in successfully analysing, understanding and reflecting business processes and problems with automation to overcome pinch points
  • the skills to design the best technical solutions using PowerApps, Power Automate, SharePoint or similar technologies
  • the ability to develop, implement and test solutions while following best practices
  • a solid understanding of security concepts including access control and data integrity
  • the ability to form effective working relationships with key customers, stakeholders and colleagues within a complex management structure
  • the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, complex information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • the willingness to self-learn, share knowledge and resources within the team, and research emerging industry knowledge and the evergreening of the Microsoft Power Platform
  • good planning and organisational skills to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • the ability to work successfully both within a team and independently
  • strong interpersonal skills and the skills to establish positive relationships within a complex, diverse and inclusive work environment
  • the ability to pass security clearance, backed by the right to work in the UK

About The Team

You’ll be joining Information Systems, which is a large and diverse team and supports applications in HR/Finance, procedural, facilities/core and Dynamic365/Power Platform for both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. We support Members, their staff and house staff together with other people who work in Parliament, both during office hours and overnight via the Information Systems 24/7 team. We’re collaborative and highly motivated, and handle requests and issues from business areas together with project work to deliver new applications and technologies destined to be used in both Houses.
